Mini golf Greens, Roses, Costa Brava, Spain

We're currently on holiday in the beautiful seaside town of Roses on the Spanish Costa Brava.

Next door to our hotel is a building which combines two of our favourite things... mini golf and Belgian beer!

Below are lots of pics of the course and the bar.

If you'd like to combine your mini golfing with your drinking, bottle carriers are provided!

There are terrapins on the course, waterfalls and tiny streams. It's beautifully landscaped too.

There are 18 holes and an extensive Belgian beer list!

They also sell ice cream and snacks.

The course is a tricky one and great fun to play.

It's right on the seafront in Roses in a premier position and couldn't be more perfect.

We gave it 10/10. No gimmicks, and just 6.20 euros each, as at September 2025.

Scores were 51 to Sunny Jim and 59 to Flaming Nora.

Post-blog update: We played again, a few days after writing this blog post and our scores were better this time around. The scores were 47 to Sunny Jim (which included two holes-in-one) and 50 to Flaming Nora.

Another post-blog update: We played again and this time our scores were Sunny Jim 48 with two holes-in-one and Flaming Nora 55 with one hole-in-one.

Here are the photos we promised!

Crazy Golf, White Platts Recreation Ground, Ambleside

This week I visited the Lake District on a day trip. Whilst there I had some free time in Ambleside, a pretty town dedicated, it seemed to outdoor shops and cafes. Away from the teashops and twee shops, there's a crazy golf course at White Platts Recreation Ground and it is gorgeous!

Sadly, I didn't have time to play and as I was on my own, it wouldn't have been as much fun as when Sunny Jim plays against me.   The course was made up of local stone, as you can see from the picture above. It was in a really pretty situation with a backdrop of the mountains too.

If you're in Ambleside in the Lake District, do play!

Mini Golf, Dunoon

On a week's holiday in Dunoon, our first visit to this gorgeous place. And of course we had to play the Mini Golf!

It was 18 holes for just £1.50 per adult, a bargain. Balls came in white only so there was no fighting for our favourite colours.

It's in a fantastic spot, on a piece of land jutting out over the Firth of Clyde. It's seen (much) better days but was still great to play.

The course was concrete and hard, which made the balls bounce all over and out of the holes. Slow and easy needed here.

Around the edges of the course was a mesh framework to stop your ball from rolling into the Clyde.

There are loads of seabirds around and the course was dotted with remains of shellfish which birds had been using the course to break open to eat. We've moved many things off a course before - dead leaves, stones, etc but never shellfish remains!

This was a fun and unpredictable course. No score cards were given so bring your own pen and paper.

Fun factor 8/10.

Final scores were Sunny Jim 60, Flaming Nora 76.

Playing 7 Mini Golf courses along the Belgian Coasts

This week we've been to the gorgeous Belgian coast for a holiday and while there, played quite a bit of mini golf.  It's a game that we found the Belgians take seriously and they seem to love it as much as we do.

While planning the trip we we came across this site which lists mini golf courses along the Belgian coast.

There are loads of courses along the route of the Kusstram (coastal tram) and they are all well worth checking out.

We played seven courses and they are all blogged separately and listed below.

Mini Golf Versluys, Bredene, Belgium

In the pleasant seaside town of Bredene there's this 21 hole course which was, in 2025 when we visited, celebrating 75 years.

Quite an achievement!

It was a well maintained and nicely landscaped course. However it was also a bit dull.

We were pulled in by the fun and exciting looking holes you see when you're walking past on the street. It promised a lot.

But once inside the holes were ordinary and, dare I say it, we were a little bored by the time we'd played all 21 holes.

There's a nice cafe on the site which sells Belgian beers too.

Enjoyment factor was 7/10 for both of us.

Scores were Sunny Jim 52 (par was 57) and Flaming Nora 63.

Here are our pictures and as you can see the course was lovingly decorated for Easter, which the Belgians seem to observe and celebrate much more enthusiastically and seriously than we ever do in the UK.

Mini-Golf Parasol, Bredene, Belgium

An 18 hole course in a really pleasant spot next to the tram stop in the town of Bredene which caters to holidaymakers and campers.

This was a decent course... if not very exciting.

It was most definitely mini golf and not crazy golf, with ne'er a whiff of adventure golf about it either.

It was pretty dull but okay.

It could easily be missed out in favour of a much more picturesque course in Bredene a short walk away opposite the Hotel De Golf...

... more on that in a different blog post!

As this was such a standard course with little to it, it oddly felt like a "palate cleanser" after playing crazy golf earlier in the day at De Haan.

Enjoyment factor, 8/10 for Sunny Jim and 7/10 for Flaming Nora.

Scores were a tie breaking 57 each.

Here are our pictures.

La Potiniere, De Haan, Belgium

Day 3 of our Belgian holiday began with a return visit to the beautiful town of De Haan on the coast.

However it's the first time we've played mini golf here or visited the park where it's located.

The mini golf was 18 holes in a woodland park setting, very pretty and calm.

The course was good, a bit basic and also wonky but fun.

Scorecard was the most beautiful we'd ever seen!

Enjoyment factor was 8/10 and scores were Sunny Jim 61 and Flaming Nora 53.

Here are our pictures.
