Petit Bois, Koksijde, Belgium

This course was celebrating its 75th anniversary and there was a photographic exhibition of the course over the years.

It was absolutely charming and old fashioned, located in a residential area and a short walk from the tram station.

It has 18 holes in lovingly-tended grounds that come complete with an aviary and rabbit house. It was wonderful!

The course was well maintained and played great with some unusual holes including a three tier one.

At one hole we waited behind a family with two small boys who were hitting the ball any which way. The man who ran the course came out of the hut to show the boy how to hold the stick, how to stand and how to hit the ball. Watching this brought tears to my eyes. The man also helped teenagers to play properly too, it was lovely to see.

Enjoyment 10/10

Scores: Sunny Jim 52. Flaming Nora 62.

Snooker golf, Blankenberge, Belgium

Is it snooker? Is it crazy golf? It's snooker golf!

I don't know when we've enjoyed a game so much.

It's crazy golf but not as you know it.

It's snooker but it's not.

It's crazy golf played on tables with snooker cues. Absolutely brilliant fun and highly recommended.

It's located at the Blankenberge Markt tram stop on the Belgian coastal tram. It's in a gorgeous park with a mini-golf and a crazy golf course too. There's a cafe in the park and lots of bars and cafes outside of the park too.

Cost was 5.50 euros each (at April 2025).

Scores were: Sunny Jim 46. Flaming Nora (who'd never held a snooker cue before!) 62.

Duinbergen Mini Golf, Belgium

This was an 18 hole course in a magical park setting surrounded by beautiful homes.

It was charming and fun and the cost was five euros each - well worth the money

On a sunny but cold Wednesday in April the course was busy with families, each one of them taking the game seriously and using score cards.

This was a real joy to play in a stunning setting that was also close to the beach.

We particularly liked the amount of benches around the course to sit on while waiting for the group in front to play.

The grounds were landscaped well with colourful flowers.

And the course itself was in very good condition and played well.

Enjoyment factor 10/10.

Scores: Sunny Jim 58. Flaming Nora 64.

NEW COURSE! Dinosaur Cove at South Shields

Today we played a brand new course that's just opened in the seaside town of South Shields in the northeast.

It's a 12 hole course and played really well, if a little slow, on the green.

The course includes animatronic dinosaurs which move and growl, it's really good fun.  And there are some nice touches like this sign too...

The 12 holes of the course are split into two sections of 6 holes each in front of an amusement arcade.

The final score for today's game was Sunny Jim 26 and Flaming Nora 32.  A good score from Sunny Jim was helped by the fact he scored two hole-in-ones!

In short, we really enjoyed this game and will return to play it again. It was really busy on the day we played with lots of families and children playing too.

There's water involved too and a chance to lose your ball in the moat if you're not careful on one of the holes.

All in all, a great game.  It's right next to Smuggler's Cove mini golf too so you can play two games while you're there.

A dead course in Parque Tenatico, Arrecife, Lanzarote

We've walked past Parque Tenatico in Arrecife on the Canary Island of Lanzarote a few times over the years and always thought it'd be a good place for a crazy golf course.

Turns out there used to be one there.

Always sad to see "dead" courses.

Rhos on Sea Crazy Golf, North Wales

While on holiday in Llandudno North Wales we took the number 12 bus to Colwyn Bay then walked along the coast to Rhos on Sea.

It's a small, charming resort with a crazy golf course.

How could we not stop to play?

The course had nine holes and was relatively easy.

The course wasn't very well maintained however and could have done with some TLC.

However we still enjoyed playing here.  It was old fashioned fun.

Some of the holes on the course had two possible holes to score in, something we'd never seen before.

The score card...

Flaming Nora won this game by 1 point. Final scores were Sunny Jim 34 and Flaming Nora 33.

Enjoyment factor 8/10.

Rocky Pines, Llandudno

On holiday in beautiful Llandudno in North Wales and we took a trip by tramway to the summit of Great Orme where there is an 18 hole crazy golf course.

There's also a cafe and a shop at the summit and some stunning views in all directions.

This might be the highest crazy golf course we've played, or could that have been a course up a mountain in Tenerife? You can read our report on the Tenerife course at:

We certainly enjoyed the Llandudno course.

It was quirky.

The holes were challenging too, and meant that queues built up while waiting for the groups in front to finish their turn.

This caused a few laughs and good camaraderie on the course... always good fun.

It looks deceptively simple on our pictures but it was challenging because some of the holes were on steep slopes.

The price was £5 per person, as at June 2024, which was good value for 18 holes and in such a fantastic location.

Definitely worth making the tram ride up the Great Orme to play a round, see the views and enjoy coffee and Welsh cakes in the cafe.

Sunny Jim won by 1 point.

Final (very high because of such a tricky course!) scores were Sunny Jim 78, Flaming Nora 79.

Enjoyment 10/10. We loved it.
