Treasure Island Mini Golf, Bridlington

Treasure Island Mini-Golf in Bridlington is an indoor game of 10 holes. The course is situated close to Bridlington harbour in the small strip of amusement arcades, opposite the fun fair.

The cost was £4 each and it was a lot of fun. It seemed quite new inside and there were plenty of pirate statues, one of which kept imploring us (over and over) to have a chocolate sundae after the game. I think the chocolate sundae seller might have been the adventure golf owner too.  Just a hunch.

Anyway, it was good fun even if the holes were short and space was tight inside the game. Many of the holes were easy hole-in-one shots. That is... as long as you got the ball in the right place to allow it to run the right way to the hole in the first place. What I mean is that some of the holes allowed a hole in one but you had, first for example, to get the ball up a very steep, short volcano, that kind of thing.

Definitely worth checking out if you're in Bridlington, a lovely place to visit.

Mr Mulligan's Space Golf, Newcastle

A new indoor crazy golf has opened this year in Newcastle and off we went to give it a whirl.  It's called Mr Mulligan's Space Golf and it based in what was the Co-operative store on Westgate Street.

Inside it's huge - with three games of nine holes each. You can play as many as you like and of course, we paid to pay all three games, a total of £11.25 each.

With it being new it was very impressive and clean. There were free lockers to store bags and jackets in, you were given a choice of colour of ball and off you went to any one of the three nine hole games you wanted to play first.

The first round we played was a little disappointing as the holes were really short - and far too easy. Not much of a challenge there, but enjoyable enough.  The second round was better and by far my favourite was the third and final round of the steampunk game which came complete with some special effects that made us laugh out loud. As we were the only people in playing on the day we went, and we had the course to ourselves, we made those special effects go a bit mad once we realised what was going on.

Yes, it's fun. It's also huge with a large seating area for drinking and dining. It feels a bit 'corporate' but still worth checking out.

Scores: Sunny Jim won - but only just.
